About Adult Programs
The Museum offers many opportunities for continuing education and
lifelong learning. You can learn about the history and culture of
the Chesapeake Bay and pass this information on to Museum visitors
as one of our volunteer docents; engage
in the hands-on activities of the Museum's Model
Guild; or expand your horizons as a member of the Academy
for Lifelong Learning.

Tours
Explore the rich heritage of the people who have made the shores
of the Chesapeake Bay their home. Learn how this estuary has attracted
a diverse population, shaping the lives of early Native Americans
to current residents and find out why the Chesapeake Bay plays an
important role in our nations story. Discover how the Bay
provided an avenue for trade, a bountiful food source for a growing
country, a site for the fight for independence as well as a popular
recreation destination.

Boaters
Safety Courses
Any Maryland boater born after July 1, 1972, is required to have
a Certificate of Boating Safety Education, in order to operate a
vessel. The certificate is obtained by passing a Department of Natural
Resources approved boating safety course, and once obtaine, the
Certificate is valid for life. Participants completing the course
and passing the test will receive this Certificate. The course is
also recommended for anyone looking to become a safer, more experienced
boater.
The course is offered over two consecutive evenings from 6:00 pm
to 10:00 pm and will be held at the Museum in the Van Lennep Auditorium
(Steamboat Building) during the following sessions: Register
