National Cancer Institute at Frederick (http://www.ncifcrf.gov/) is part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and is based on one of two NCI campuses. The NCI's clinical researchers, as well as the NIH Campus Center are located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland. The NCI's Frederick campus is located within Fort Detrick, a U.S. Army base in Frederick, MD.

NCI-Frederick focuses on direct research aimed at identifying the causes of cancer, AIDS, and related diseases. More than 100 scientists here are investigating the genetic, molecular, environmental, and behavioral factors that contribute to human cancers, as well as identifying new targets for cancer diagnosis, treatment, and prevention. NCI-Frederick also provides core scientific expertise and advanced technology development to NCI, the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases, and other components of NIH via the Research Technology Program and other programs directed by SAIC-Frederick, Inc., a subsidiary of Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC).
