An administrative infrastructure centered around a Steering Committee has been established provide guidance
over the Program, and for coordination of co-sponsoring Institutes. The steering committee meets monthly and
addresses issues relating to all aspects of the program, including research areas to be included in the call for
proposals, details needed to be specified in the Memorandum of Understanding that is signed by all partnering
Institutes, Program participation in symposia and lectures, etc.
The Steering Committee is made up of representatives appointed by the Scientific Director of participating
co-sponsoring institutes. The range of expertise represented includes neuroimaging; autoimmune disease;
neurophysiology of aging; molecular and cellular immunology and T cell selection; autoimmune diseases of
brain - molecular and cellular aspects; autoimmune diseases of the eye and visual system; and neural immune
factors in pain. As the Program continues to evolve, more members will be added to the steering committee to
assure full representation from participating co-sponsoring institutes.
