The goals of the Molecular Targets Faculty are to:
1) Advise NCI intramural investigators on molecular targets and drug discovery.
2) Develop screening assays for biomolecules that interact with molecular targets.
3) Evaluate natural products and libraries of synthetic compounds.
4) Implement screens to identify biomolecules that interact with molecular targets.
5) Isolate, characterize, and validate hits from these screens.
6) Advise and assist in the development of new research reagents.
7) Advise and assist in the preclinical development of promising leading compounds.
8) Train predoctoral and postdoctoral scientists in the interdisciplinary fields necessary for bioassay development and molecularly targeted drug discovery. |
