SUBJECT: | Revised Stipend Rates for Special Experts |
The President approved increased rates of pay for the General Schedule by 2.3 percent (approximately 2.45 percent with locality pay), effective January 4, 1998. These increases did not cover employees appointed under the NIH Special Expert authority. The Deputy Director, NIH has approved stipend increases for special expert employees, effective January 4, 1998. By this memorandum, ICD Directors are directed to raise the current rates of pay for NIH Special Experts by 2.45 percent, not to exceed $118,400 per annum (i.e., equivalent to Executive Level IV).
In addition, 1998 stipend ranges are established, effective January 4, 1998, to coincide with the effective date of General Schedule Increases.

Requests to process individual salary increase actions should be submitted by list form to the Division of Human Resource Systems, OHRM, or as appropriate, to Agents of the SPO, based on their submission requirements.
