2nd Annual Advanced Training Institute on Health Behavior Theory

Course Content

The course is organized around the following five themes:

  • Fundamental issues in health behavior theory
  • Current theories and types of theories
  • Theory components
  • Theory testing
  • Application of theories to health behavior change interventions

The specific topics covered in the course are identified in the reading lists that are available on the course readings page. Because the topics covered are very similar to those covered in the 2004 course, you may also view the 2004 course syllabus through the link below for more information.

Continuing Medical Education/Continuing Medical Education Credit
Approval for offering CME credits (for those in the medical field) and CE credits (for those outside of the medical field) is pending. Should the institute be allowed to offer these credits, participants wishing to earn credit will need to complete and submit an evaluation form at the end of the institute.

CME Accreditation Statement:
The National Institutes of Health/Foundation for Advanced Education in the Sciences (NIH/FAES) is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
