Educating our children is one of the most important issues facing our country today. We know that parental involvement and community participation helps to ensure academic success.

As a father of five, I am keenly aware of the positive impact early childhood education has on our nation's youth. Not only does Head Start provide a much-needed academic foundation for over 3,500 of Idaho's children, but the program also promotes physical, nutritional, and social wellness for the entire family.

As a Senator, I have consistently worked to increase support for Head Start and pre-kindergarten programs while preserving decision-making authority for states, local communities, and local school boards.
