I support the goal of preparing young people and adults for postsecondary education, successful careers and productive lives. In order to meet the needs of a competitive job market, the importance of providing our citizens with the opportunity to enhance their education has grown tremendously.
Vocational-technical education prepares participants for both postsecondary education and employment. Technical education is vital to developing a highly-skilled workforce. I will continue to work with my colleagues in Congress to advocate for Idaho's technical educational needs.
The Carl D. Perkins Vocational-Technical Education Act, which was signed into law in 1998, sought to develop more fully the academic, vocational and technical skills of secondary students and post-secondary students who elect to enroll in vocation and technical education.
