(Washington D.C.) - The Christmas Tree from Montana ushered in the 2008 holiday season during the official lighting ceremony outside the U.S. Capitol in Washington D.C. Max called a tree “a wonderful opportunity to have a little piece of Montana on display for the entire country to enjoy.”

(Washington D.C.) - The Capitol Christmas tree arrived safely at the U.S. Capitol. The tree is now in place in front of the U.S. Capitol Building, after traveling across the country from the Bitterroot Forest in western Montana. Montana’s senior U.S. Senator Max Baucus was on hand to welcome the tree to the Capitol, and officially present Montana’s tree to the people of the United States.

Treasury Chief, Baucus Debate Trade On Visit From The Billings Gazette:

U.S. Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson used a visit to Billings on Tuesday to tout the advantages of global trade and low taxes and to warn against protectionism. U.S. Sen. Montana Senator Max Baucus visited Libby in March of this year with Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt. It was Baucus’ 18th visit to Libby since winter 1999, when widespread asbestos exposure was linked to sickness and death in the small northwest Montana community.
