Scalise Amendment Strikes Funding for Contraceptives and Abortion Industry from Stimulus Package
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise introduced an amendment this week that will strike taxpayer funding for contraceptives and the abortion industry from H.R. 1, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 last night. The House Rules Committee included the Scalise amendment into the proposed bill that will be considered on the floor today.

Military Fellow Joins Scalise Staff in DC
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today announced a new addition to his staff in Washington, D.C. Major Neil Richardson, United States Air Force, who was recently selected to Lt Col will join Congressman Steve Scalise’s staff for 2009 as part of the Air Force Legislative Fellowship program. Lt Col (s) Richardson will be working on defense, security and veterans’ issues for Congressman Scalise.

Scalise Applauds “Benjamin Button” for 13 Oscar Nominations
Washington, DC -- Congressman Steve Scalise today congratulated “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” for its 13 Academy Award nominations. “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button” was filmed in Louisiana after Hurricane Katrina, and is the largest movie production in the history of the state. The majority of the filming for this production took place in and around the First Congressional District.
