Environmental Quality Incentives Program FY-2006 National Livestock Cost-Share Data

Updated 01/10/2007

This information is based on an analysis of Fiscal Year 2006 Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) data that was maintained by the Farm Service Agency (FSA).  The contracts in the FSA database are labeled by Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) field office personnel at the time of contract development, indicating the primary resource concern addressed.  If that resource concern is livestock-related, the type of animal is identified: beef, dairy, horses, poultry, sheep, swine, or other.  The conservation practices in the database were sorted into three categories:  1) practices typically associated with confined livestock, 2) practices typically associated with unconfined livestock uses, and 3) practices that could be used with either confined or unconfined livestock operations.  The purpose of the information is to provide NRCS at the State level a tool to assist them, working with State Technical Committees, to assess their use of EQIP funds and implement strategies to allocate their program funds in a manner consistent with National priorities and State and local resource concerns.
