2009 National Mentoring Month logoJanuary Is National Mentoring Month

January marks the eighth annual National Mentoring Month, a large-scale public service campaign held each year to recruit volunteer mentors to help young people achieve their full potential.  The theme for this year's observance is “Expand Your Universe: Mentor a Child.” The campaign's chief sponsors have launched a new Web site to help people learn more about mentoring and join in related activities.

    Bulletin Describes Protective Factors in Girls' Delinquency

    Part of the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention's Girls Study Group bulletin series, “Resilient Girls—Factors that Protect Against Delinquency” describes how four factors (the presence of a caring adult, school connectedness, school success, and religiosity) influence girls' propensity for delinquent behavior.
