The museums are conveniently located above the Gallery Place-Chinatown Metrorail station (Red, Yellow and Green lines). Metro hours, fare information, and maps are available at http://www.wmata.com. Smithsonian Information: 202-633-1000 TTY: 202-633-5285 Map of location Museum Hours Coat Room Admission is free. 11:30 a.m.-7:00 p.m. Visit the museums' stores on the first floor for collection-inspired gifts, graphics, and books. You can also reach the office of the stores at (202) 633-5450. When you need a break, the museums offer several café options. Courtyard Café Open 11:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. The Courtyard Café offers casual dining year-round in the museums' new Robert and Arlene Kogod Courtyard, and provides a public gathering space in one of Washington's most vibrant neighborhoods. The Café offers a seasonal menu of American-inspired dishes, using local, organic or sustainable ingredients when possible. The menu includes soups, create-your-own salad entrees, sandwiches and panini, and a selection of antipasti with a focus on vegetarian offerings and premium meats. These items are available until 4 p.m. Gourmet desserts, creamery-made ice cream and healthy snacks, such as fruit and yogurt parfaits, also are available. Express offerings, called "Grab & Go," include pre-made sandwiches and salads; these items are available until 6:30 p.m. Coffee, espresso, beer and red and white wines also may be enjoyed in the cafe anytime. Free public wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the Kogod Courtyard. Catering for Groups Are you planning a group visit to the museums? Groups of twenty or more can take advantage of special dining packages. Portico Café NOW OPEN 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. (weather permitting) Enjoy espresso, wine, salads, sandwiches and pastries in the outdoor Portico Café from April through mid-October. Art + Coffee in the Luce Foundation Center Wednesdays through Sundays, 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. Enjoy complimentary coffee or tea in the Smithsonian American Art Museum's Luce Foundation Center for American Art following a tour of this skylit study center and open storage facility. Free public wireless Internet access (Wi-Fi) is available throughout the Luce Foundation Center during museum hours. Gallery Guidelines Please help us protect our artworks by not smoking, eating, or drinking in the galleries. Suitcases, large umbrellas, and all backpacks are not allowed in the galleries. Bag check is not offered, but free lockers are available for smaller items. Please limit the use of cellular phones when in the galleries. Photography Please help protect our artworks. Handheld photography and video for personal use are permitted in the permanent collection galleries, and in the Luce Foundation Center, but not in special exhibitions or in the Lunder Conservation Center. No tripods are allowed. Commercial use must be pre-arranged with the museums' Public Affairs Offices. Barrier-free access is available at G Street entrance. All areas of the museum are served by elevators. Wheelchairs are available. Please inquire at the Information Desk. Bags, boxes, and packages may be inspected for security reasons upon entrance or exit. |
