Hello and Happy Monday Afternoon to YOU All!

Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap, but by the seeds you plant.

- Robert Louis Stevenson

I just finished reading the monthly e-mail newsletter from the Corporation
for National Service Resource Center and found three (3) wonderful tools
which you may find useful for your program. Item 1 is a site with a wealth
of materials on a variety of program concerns. Items number 2 and 3 pertain
to developing the competencies of Volunteer Management in your program.
Item 2 is a basic (FREE) online course and item 3 is about getting your
experienced volunteer managers certified (this one costs, but look over the
materials for free and see what you think!). Being certified for what one
has learned and practiced is pretty motivational.this may be something you
want to pursue.

I hope these are useful to you. There are sooooo many useful websites out
there - please share your favorites with me!

2. EXTRACTED FROM THE Corporation for National and Community Service
NEWSLETTER:

Question: What do AmeriCorps program directors and traditional managers of
volunteers have in common?

Answer: A lot! Competencies <http://lists.etr.org/t/760584/200741/1897/0/>
for Managers of Volunteers, a FREE online course and self-assessment for
volunteer managers, is now available. Anyone who supervises volunteers or
who wants to better understand the many competencies required of an
effective manager will be interested in this comprehensive tool that
includes links to other resources related to the identified competencies.

There's an excellent Volunteer Management Competencies Training &
Development booklet available at this site too - a great assessment tool!
Have a look!

3. CERTIFICATION FOR VOLUNTEER MANAGERS:

Certified in Volunteer Administration (CVA) is the only international
professional certification in the field of volunteer resources management.
Originally developed by the Association for Volunteer Administration (AVA)
several decades ago, the program is now sponsored by the Council for
Certification in Volunteer Administration (CCVA). The CVA credential
reflects mastery of the knowledge required of practitioners in this field as
measured through an exam and peer assessment process.

Find out how to register and prepare for certification exam (March 2009) and
how to build a portfolio: download the handbook . Experienced managers can
get certified!
