NCA MISSION, VISION, AND PURPOSE STATEMENTS

MISSION: The National Cemetery Administration honors Veterans with a final resting place and lasting memorials that commemorate their service to our nation.

VISION: The National Cemetery Administration provides a lasting tribute to our Nation’s veterans by being mission driven, results oriented and customer focused.

PURPOSE:

To provide burial space for veterans and their eligible family members.

To maintain national cemeteries as national shrines, sacred to the honor and memory of those interred or memorialized there.

To mark veterans’ graves with a Government-provided headstone or marker and to provide Presidential Memorial Certificates in recognition of their service to a grateful nation.

To administer grants for establishing or expanding state veterans cemeteries.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Supervisors are responsible for on-the-job safety and health in the workplace. They need to learn procedures for safe work practices and teach others. They also should know how to investigate accidents and see that hazards are eliminated. They must also be cognizant of, and maintain responsibility for, safety awareness. This includes reporting unsafe and unhealthy working conditions, and all injuries and accidents; helping new employees avoid dangers and keeping work areas clean and safe from hazards.

All NCA employees should participate safety program activities.  Employees should be motivated to make suggestions and recommendations for improving the safety and health programs at their local station.

Job safety and health are contagious!  Supervisors who display a positive attitude develop employees with similar attitudes.  Let's all get personally involved to reduce injuries and illnesses and their enormous costs.
