May 17, 2000: President Clinton has authorized time off for federal employees who have been victimized by the devastating fires in the Los Alamos, New Mexico, area. In addition, the time-off policy also applies to employees who provide emergency law enforcement, relief or clean-up services authorized by federal, state or local officials.  [News Release]

May 10, 2000: Washington, D.C.-- U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Janice R. Lachance today announced that the agency will donate two job information/touchscreen computer kiosks to the Delta region in support of the Clinton/Gore Administration's Delta Initiative. [News Release]

May 8, 2000: The U.S. House of Representatives approved legislation (HR 4040) authorizing OPM to offer long-term care insurance to current and retired federal employees, members of the military, and eligible family members. The passage of this legislation proves that people are coming to terms with the very real fact that the population of the United States is getting older, a population that will need long-term care options, said OPM Director Janice R.
