July 29, 1994: Washington, DC--The recent tragic death of a Drug Enforcement Administration agent in the line of duty has prompted OPM Director Jim King to remind agency heads of their authority to grant excused absence to employees to attend the funeral of a co-worker killed in the line of duty. In addition, their travel expenses may be reimbursed. [News Release]

July 28, 1994: Washington, D.C. -- U.S. Office of Personnel Management Director Jim King has been named by President Clinton to be the permanent Chair of the National Partnership Council. The Council, established by Executive Order 12871, on October 1, 1993, was created to bring about change in the federal government through labor-management partnerships. [News Release]
