NRC Regulations, Guidance, and Communications for Fire Protection Programs in Nuclear Reactors
The Commission's requirements for nuclear plant fire protection programs are promulgated in a number of regulations and supporting guidelines, including Regulatory Guides, NUREG-series publications, generic communications, branch technical positions, and industry consensus standards.

Regulations

NRC's regulations are found in Chapter I of Title 10, "Energy," of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). Chapter I is divided into Parts 1 through 199. The following are the principal parts and sections governing fire protection at nuclear reactors:

Guidance

Regulatory guides are issued in 10 divisions and are intended to aid licensees in implementing regulations. The regulatory guides listed below apply to fire protection at nuclear reactors.
