Charles Jeffress
Charles Jeffress serves as the Chief Administrative Officer for the Legal Services Corporation, a nonprofit corporation that funds legal aid programs for poor people across the United States. His career spans 30 years in the public and private sectors, including service as the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health, Chief Operating Officer of the US Chemical Safety Board, and Deputy Commissioner of Labor for the State of North Carolina.

As the head of federal OSHA, Mr. Jeffress worked with advocates for business, labor and public health as well as with Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle to draft the first successful amendments to the Occupational Safety and Health Act in 30 years. He was recognized by Business Week magazine as one of three Regulators of the Year for the year 2000.

At LSC, Mr. Jeffress has responsibility for the human resources, financial services, information technology, and administrative services of the corporation.
