Abraham Lincoln was a common man with an extraordinary vision for his time. From his humble beginnings splitting rails and tending store, Lincoln became a lawyer, statesman, and the wartime president who helped heal our nation. Lincoln called Springfield, Illinois his family's home. The central Illinois area has preserved many historic sites to honor Lincoln's memory. This April 2005, people from all over the world came together to celebrate the dedication of the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum in Springfield.
