DWSRF Annual Allotments

Since fiscal year (FY) 1998, the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) has required that EPA allot grant funding to each state based on the state’s proportional share of the total eligible needs reported for the most recent Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey. The minimum proportional share that each state can receive is one percent of funds available for allotment to all of the states. The Act also provides for national set-asides, including funding for Indian Tribes and Alaskan Native Villages, monitoring of unregulated contaminants, and operator certification reimbursement.

The FY 2008 appropriation for the DWSRF program is $829,029,000. The state allotments for the FY 2008 appropriation will be distributed based on percentages derived from the 2003 Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey.
