LIST OF CANADIAN VEHICLES CONSIDERED BY EPA TO CONFORM WITH U.S. EMISSIONS REQUIREMENTS

NOTES

All 1988-1995 Canadian automobiles (gasoline or diesel fueled), light-duty trucks (gasoline or diesel fueled) and heavy-duty gasoline fueled engines are considered by EPA to conform with U.S. emission requirements.

This list incorporates the above as a class and specifies all other Canadian vehicles and engines that are considered by EPA to conform with U.S. emission requirements. Unless otherwise specified, this list includes only vehicles and engines using gasoline or diesel fuel.

EPA will update this list as necessary to add new models as they are being introduced into commerce and to reflect changes as reported by the manufacturers.

II. 1988-1995 VEHICLES AND ENGINES

Note: for 1988 and later motorcycles and diesel-fueled heavy duty engines, see sections III and IV, respectively.

LIGHT-DUTY TRUCKS (truck having GVWR <= 8500 lbs, or curb weight <= 6000 lbs)

All 1988-1995 light-duty trucks (gasoline or diesel)

FORD AND MERCURY

All 1968 through 1974 cars.

All 1970 through 1978 trucks having a GVWR of more than 6000 pounds.

Certain 1986 model year (10th digit of VIN = G) cars:

All Escort, Lynx, EXP, Continental, Mark VII and Town Car.

All Tempo/Topaz except those with R in the 8th VIN position.

All Mustang, Cabri, LTD, Marquis, Thunderbird, Cougar except those with 3 in the 8th VIN position.

Only Crown Victoria/Grand Marquis with M in 8th VIN position.

All 1986 model (10th digit of VIN = G) light-duty trucks with 4th digit of the VIN - A, B, C, D, E, F, or G (indicating GVWR less than 8500 lbs.) except for E-series (vans) and F-series (pickups) with Y in the 8th VIN position, that use leaded fuel.

Certain 1987 model year (10th digit of VIN = H) cars:

All Escort, Lynx, EXP, Mustang, Merkur XR4TI, Thunderbird, Cougar, Town Car, Continental Mark VI and Mark VIl LSC

All Tempo/Topaz except those with 6th and 7th VIN digits = 18, 21, 71, or 74, or R in the 8th VIN position

All Crown Victoria, Grand Marquis, Country Squire, Colony Park except those with G in the 8th VIN position

Only Taurus/Sable with D in the 8th VIN position.

Certain 1987 model year (10th digit of VIN = H) light duty trucks under 8500 lbs. GVW

All Aerostar, Bronco II All Club Wagon, E-series (vans), F-series (pickups), Bronco except those with Z in the 4th VIN position

All Ranger except those with E in the 8th VIN position

GENERAL MOTORS

All 1968 through 1974 cars.

All 1970 through 1978 trucks having a GVWR of more than 6000 pounds.

All 1968 through 1984 Chevrolet Corvettes.

All 1986 model year (10th digit of VIN = G) cars and light-duty trucks built with the RPO designation NA5 on the Service Parts Identification label found in one of these locations:

- Under the rear deck lid (trunk lid)

- Under the rear load flow (trunk floor under carpeting)

- In the glove compartment

- In station wagons, on the back of the rear seat, on a wheel well under carpeting, or under the carpet on the floor.

All 1987 model year (10th digit of VIN = H) cars and light-duty trucks built with the RPO designation NA5 on the Service Parts Identification label except for light-duty trucks with C or J in the 8th VIN position (excludes 6.2L diesel)

IV. HEAVY DUTY ENGINES (GASOLINE) 1987 and Earlier

All 1970 through 1979 Caterpillar, Cummins, and Detroit Diesel engines used in trucks having a GVWR of more than 6000 pounds.

All 1968 through 1978 International Harvester passenger cars and trucks. 1979 Scout model, if equipped with a diesel engine.

All 1970 through 1979 Kenworth trucks, except 1979 trucks using the Detroit Diesel 12V71 model engine.

All Mack trucks manufactured from 1970 through 1994. Mack trucks sold in Canada carry an emission control label stating that the engine complies with U.S. emission standards.

All Peterbuilt trucks manufactured from 1970 through 1979.

All 1970 through 1979 White, White Western Star, and Autocar trucks.

Only 1988 through 1994 Detroit Diesel engines carrying an emission control label stating that the engine complies with U.S. emission standards.

All 1988-1994 Caterpillar engine models.
