                  Geosciences

Geosciences  is a term that is increasingly being utilized among the Geographic Information Systems (GIS) community. Traditionally, this is an all-embracing term for sciences related to the planet Earth.  Thus, historic disciplines as physics, geography, mathematics, chemistry & biology, are used in building quantitative understandings of principle areas in the Earth Systems. Of these disciplines, geography is used in understanding the relationship between man-land interaction. It is within this area that varying scientific endeavors have been used in applying GIS (collection, storage, analysis & management of geographic information) to mapping of these interactions on the planet Earth.
