What we do!
-
Rural Housing Programs
- USDA Rural Development makes loans and grants
to provide rural residents with decent, safe and sanitary housing. Our
programs help finance new or improved housing for moderate, low and very-low
income families each year. These programs provide
financing--with no down payment, at favorable rates and terms--either
through a direct loan or a loan from a private financial institution, which
is guaranteed by Rural Development.
-
Rural Business - Cooperative Programs
- USDA Rural Development's goal is to provide a dynamic business environment
in rural America. Working with the private sector and community-based
organizations, we provide financial assistance to rural businesses and
cooperatives; conduct research into rural economic issues; and provide
cooperative education material to the public. We help fund projects
that create or preserve quality jobs and/or promote a clean rural
environment. Individuals, corporations, partnerships, cooperatives,
public bodies, and non-profit corporations may be eligible.
-
Community Facilities Programs
- USDA Rural Development has made important
contributions to rural communities by providing loans and grants for
essential community facilities through its Community Programs. These
loans and grants help rural communities remain economically viable and
enable rural businesses to provide jobs and services to area residents.
USDA Rural Development also provides technical and advisory assistance to
applicants through all stages of project development.
-
Rural Utilities Programs
- USDA Rural Development provides loans, grants
and loan guarantees for drinking water, sanitary sewer, solid waste and
storm drainage facilities in rural areas and cities and towns of 10,000 or
less. Rural Development programs are also concentrating on helping
rural communities take advantage of broadband and other new technologies.
Distance Learning and Telemedicine programs help rural, hospitals, clinics
and education facilities bring quality health care and learning
opportunities to rural communities throughout the State.
-
Faith-Based & Community
Initiatives Programs - As part of its Faith-Based and
Community Initiatives focus, the USDA ensures that faith-based and community
organizations have equal access to USDA programs and benefits. Working
in conjunction with the Department's many mission areas, including Rural
Development, USDA is making an effort to reach out and educate faith-based
and community organizations about programs and benefits.
