Office of Inspector General (OIG)
Guide for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Requests
Any individual may submit a FOIA request to NASA by mail, facsimile,
electronic mail, from the Internet, or in person. Link here to the NASA Headquarters
FOIA Home
Page or from the Service Links option on the OIG Home Page. This will
provide requesters with detailed information on FOIA contacts and processing
for Agency-related requests other than OIG documents.
While we are linked to the Agency FOIA Office and abide by their reporting
requirements, requests for OIG documents remain independent and are handled
directly by this office. Our policy and procedures follow those of the Agency.
Requests to the OIG can also be made by mail, facsimile, electronic mail,
from the Internet, or in person to the following address:
Office of Inspector General
NASA Headquarters
Room 8V69
300 E Street, S.W.
Washington, D.C. 20546
Facsimile: (202) 358-2767
E-mail: foiaoig@hq.nasa.gov
You may send an electronic FOIA request from
this Web page.
The FOIA request must be in writing. No telephone requests will be accepted.
If you do not know the exact title of the document you are seeking, you
should provide a reasonable description of the document. The more information
that you can provide about the document, such as its author or date, the more
expeditiously your request will be processed.
