A collaborative agreement between NASA and Jackson State University provides pre-service and K-12 educators the opportunity to receive NASA educational publications, multimedia products and professional development workshops.
NASA's Office of External Affairs and Education at Stennis Space Center works closely with the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians to enhance existing and develop new academic and vocational/technical training programs.
NASA education is dedicated to encouraging educators and students to become involved in science and engineering, particularly robotics. The nationwide Robotics Education Project works to capture the educational potential of NASA's robotics missions by supporting educational robotics competitions and events, facilitating robotics curriculum enhancements at all educational levels and maintaining a Web site clearinghouse of robotics education information. Stennis Space Center provides support for two main programs in our service area: FIRST Robotics and FIRST Lego League.
Student teams research NASA science capabilities relevant to community concerns and create advanced computer generated visualizations demonstrating research results. DEVELOP encourages applications from high school through graduate level students with strong interests in science, technology and policy.

Home School Initiative

For years, NASA SSC has supported educators and students in a traditional classroom setting and is now reaching out to students and parent educators in the growing community of home schools. Home school groups are invited to visit SSC to learn about NASA educational opportunities. Students spend they day participating in hands-on activities while parent educators learn how to incorporate NASA lesson plans and technology into their curriculum.
