EDUCATIONAL FEATURES

Transportation

Transportation from city of residence to Norfolk or Newport News by airport, bus or train station is provided. Students must make their own travel arrangements.

  • Students living in excess of 400 miles from NASA Langley Research Center may fly and will be reimbursed, for actual costs, up to $400 with receipts.
  • Students living up to 400 miles are expected to take ground transportation and will be reimbursed at a rate of 40.5 cents per mile up to $200 with receipts.
  • Students should investigate their State Air Travel Rates and reserve early.

Directions to NASA Langley Research Center

From Newport News/Christopher Newport University

Turn Southeast on US-60/Warwick Blvd towards Sweetbriar Dr. Turn left onto J Clyde Morris Blvd. Take J Clyde Morris Blvd to the I-64 E ramp towards Hampton/Norfolk and merge onto I-64 E. Take exit number 265C- towards Armistead Ave/NASA Langley AFB. Turn left onto Rip Rap Rd. Follow NASA Langley Research sign around the bend. Continue on this road until you reach the gate which is straight ahead.

Directions to CNU (Dorm Rooms)

Christopher Newport University is located in Newport News, Virginia, mid-way between Williamsburg and Norfolk. The most convenient access to the university is from Interstate 64.

From the Richmond area, take Interstate 64 Eastbound.

From the Norfolk area, take Interstate 64 Westbound. Then take exit 258A, which is J Clyde Morris Blvd. South, and follow it for about three miles to the intersection of J Clyde Morris Blvd. and Warwick Blvd. Make a right and go to the first stoplight, which is at Shoe Lane. Turn left onto Shoe Lane, and the University will be on your right.
