Finding of No Significant Impact

Finding of No Significant Impact

A food contact notification (FCN No. 707), submitted by LANXESS Deutschland GmbH, to provide for the safe use of 2 butenedioic (Z)-, ammonium salt, homopolymer, hydrolyzed, sodium salts as (1) a dispersant for fillers (e.g., clay, calcium carbonate, etc.) in the wet-end during the manufacture of paper and paperboard intended for food-contact use, and (2) as an anti-scale additive during the processing/evaporation of raw beet and cane sugar juice.

The Environmental Review Team has determined that allowing this notification to become effective will not significantly affect the quality of the human environment and therefore will not require the preparation of an environmental impact statement. This finding is based on information submitted by the notifier in an environmental assessment (EA) (in PDF*, 447Kb), dated April 19, 2007, confidential business information, and other information known to the agency.
