Participants have the opportunity to develop and apply skills in designing evaluation tools such as surveys, observation forms, and interview and focus group guides. Fundamentals of Environmental Education (FEE) February 2 - April 24, 2009 12-week course for classroom teachers and nonformal educators who work with students and/or teachers provides the knowledge and skills necessary to incorporate quality environmental education into their instruction. Making EE Relevant for Culturally Diverse Audiences (MEER) February 2 - April 10, 2009 10-week course designed to provide the basic knowledge and skills needed to make EE relevant to culturally diverse audiences. Through this course participants will broaden their perspective of EE to encompass interests and issues of concern to culturally diverse audiences, assess barriers to participation among culturally diverse audiences, and apply cultural competency skills in building relationships and partnerships with members of an audience they intend to work with in the future. Leadership Development in Natural Resources: Strategic Planning and Implementation (SPI) Fall Semester 2009 9-week course on developing successful strategic planning and implementation models, processes, and techniques. The Smithsonian-Mason Semester is a resident program for undergraduates in conservation studies at the National Zoological Park Conservation and Research Center in Front Royal, Virginia. This 16-credit program, housed in a Smithsonian research facility adjacent to the Shenandoah National Park, offers students the opportunity to live and learn among prominent research scientists, educators, conservation practitioners, and some of the rarest species on earth.

The College of Forestry and Conservation at The University of Montana is offering students the opportunity to expand their knowledge and experience of natural ecosystems in the South Pacific.
