The American Horticultural Society’s Green Garage program is
designed to challenge and encourage people to make
earth-friendly choices while creating and maintaining a
beautiful and thriving garden.
At the AHS’s
River Farm
headquarters in Alexandria, Virginia, the Green Garage
display features a model garage and surrounding garden to
demonstrate the tools, equipment, materials, and techniques
that support sustainable gardening. From plant choices and
beneficial insects to a green roof, there are dozens of
options - large and small - that every gardener can include
in their urban, suburban, or country home and landscape.
Additionally, the Green Garage appears in the AHS’s
magazine, The American Gardener, as a department that
focuses on current research, gardening products, and
efficient strategies for environmentally friendly gardening.
