Professional Experience

Served on Goat Program committee for National American Society of Animal Science (2006 – 2007), which was then renamed Small Ruminant Program committee (2008).

Adjunct Professor, University of Arkansas, Department of Animal Science

Member (2004 – present) and Secretary (2004 – 2005) of NCERA-190, “Increased Efficiency of Sheep Production,” a multi-state research coordinating committee and Information Exchange Group. Contributing to improved hair sheep production and improvements in reproduction.

Served on Small Ruminant Production committee for Southern Section American Society of Animal Science, 2001-2004; organized Interactive Exchange Group meetings for this group held prior to the general session.

Served on Sheep Production Committee for American Society of Animal Science, 2003-2004.  Organized and obtained funding for Sheep Symposium, "Management of Gastrointestinal Nematodes in Sheep."

Current Interests

Interest in developing means to control gastrointestinal nematodes in sustainable and organic small ruminants, including use of copper oxide wire particles in sheep and goats, copper supplement in goats, use of tannin-rich forages to reduce H. contortus infection, use of resistant breeds of sheep to manage parasites on pasture, and improved management to control parasite level on farm.

Interest in endophyte-infected tall fescue and impact on reproduction in ruminants.
