So
Much To Do & See
Three National Parks and two National Monuments are adjacent to
the Forest. The scenic beauty for which these areas were set aside
prevails over much of the Forest. Red limestone formations of Red
Canyon rival those of Bryce Canyon National Park. From the top of
Powell Point, it is possible to see for miles into three different
states. Boulder Mountain and the many different lakes provide opportunities
for hiking, fishing, and viewing outstanding scenery.
Safety
During the summer months high intensity thunderstorms can produce
flash flooding. When this occurs, stay out of washes and canyon
bottoms.
Hiking Suggestions
- Wear sturdy boots or shoes suitable for rough terrain
- Wear a hat and sunscreen. The sun is intense in southern Utah
- Carry plenty of water
- Stay on the trails. Cutting switchbacks causes erosion and damages fragile vegetation.
- Take your time. The elevation is above 7,000 feet (2,130 meters).
- Never throw rocks. There are trails and hikers below you.
- For first aid, contact any ranger or go to the Visitor's Center.
