CAREERS WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES

People who work for the Department of Natural Resources are committed to fulfilling the agency’s mission of managing and conserving the state’s natural and cultural resources for future generations. With nearly 3,000 associates working throughout the state, job opportunities within the agency require various levels of education and expertise ranging from a high school education up through advanced degrees. If you are interested in pursuing a career as a conservation ranger, fisheries or wildlife biologist, park ranger, environmental engineer or historic preservation planner, the Department of Natural Resources is the place for you.

The Job Outlook is the central source for listing Department of Natural Resources jobs that are currently available. It includes minimum qualifications for each job as well as specific instructions on application procedures. The Job Outlook is usually published twice per month and is available at most DNR offices. Job opportunities listed on the Job Outlook are also available on the DNR Jobline at (404) 656-2695.

The standard State of Georgia application is required to apply for most DNR jobs and is available electronically through the Georgia Merit System.

Important notice about some DNR jobs:

  • Conservation Rangers: Individuals interested in applying for employment as a conservation ranger (game warden) must complete a written test administered by the State Personnel Administration. Additional information on this process is available at www.thejobsite.state.ga.us/jobsearch/joblist.asp by clicking on conservation ranger.
  • State Park Lodges: Most positions in the Parks, Recreation and Historic Sites Division (PRHS) are advertised in the DNR Job Outlook. However, anyone interested in entry-level visitor service positions at lodge parks including Amicalola Falls, George T. Bagby, Little Ocmulgee, Red Top Mountain, Reynolds Mansion, Smithgall Woods, and Unicoi should contact those sites directly about employment opportunities currently available.
