The EPA's Superfund program was established in 1980 to locate, investigate, and clean up hazardous waste sites throughout the United States. In New England, the Superfund program has carried out or is currently involved in the cleanup of close to 500 such sites since the law went into effect.

Use this Web site to locate hazardous waste sites in New England, learn about Superfund and the cleanup process, and get involved in a cleanup effort near you.

Superfund's 25th Anniversary: Capturing the Past, Charting the Future

Superfund's 25th Anniversary LogoIn December 2005, EPA celebrated the 25th Anniversary of the Superfund Program. To commemorate this milestone, EPA illustrated the history of the Superfund program by asking those involved to share their experiences and discuss the changing nature of Superfund. We also created a photo history project.
