The International Registration Plan (IRP) is a cooperative agreement for registering vehicles that travel into two or more jurisdictions. The IRP provides for payment of registration fees based on the percentage of fleet miles operated in each jurisdiction. The unique feature of the IRP is that although one total registration fee is paid to a base jurisdiction and apportioned to various jurisdictions in which fleet vehicles are operated, only one set of license plates and one cab card is issued for each fleet vehicle.
