About Us
Welcome to the Soil and Water Conservation District program.
Vision
Maintain highly functioning, local conservation districts so they may:
  • Provide technical assistance, educational outreach, and other conservation services to landowners, managers, and citizens.
  • Provide leadership in delivery of state water quality programs, watershed enhancement programs, and local conservation efforts that contribute to the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds.
  • Coordinate and partner with state and federal natural resource agencies, private organizations, and local governments.
Mission Statement
The mission of the Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Program is to provide support, technical assistance, and administrative oversight to Oregon’s 45 local SWCDs. Its major responsibilities are to administer various SWCD programs, keep district directors informed of activities of other districts, provide conservation district director and employee training, and promote cooperation among conservation districts.

Annual Performance Measures

The SWCD program is one of five programs within the Natural Resources Division. The Soil and Water Conservation Commission (SWCC) provides direction and advice relating to the SWCD program, and represents conservation districts by having the SWCC chair serve on the State Board of Agriculture .
