Chesapeake Bay Foundation Receives a
National Fish Habitat Award for Outreach and Education

On April 28, the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) was presented with the First Annual National Fish Habitat Award for Outreach and Education. CBF received the award for their Oyster Trail Project, which was funded through Restore America's Estuaries and NOAA. The Oyster Trail is a permanent, self-guided, interpretive trail to educate students and visitors about oyster ecology, protection, and restoration. This project galvanizes community support for habitat conservation and increases the adoption of more sustainable behavior by those who live within the Bay's watershed.

Duwamish Alive Coalition Receives Coastal America Award

On April 19, Restore America's Estuaries (RAE) and RAE member organization, People For Puget Sound, and other members of the Duwamish Alive! Coalition received the 2007 Coastal America Partnership Award for volunteer restoration work on the Duwamish River, WA. The award is known as the "the highest honor the federal government gives to such groups for efforts to protect, preserve and restore America's coastal heritage". The Coastal America Awards Program was established in 1997 to recognize outstanding team efforts to restore and protect the coastal environment. Since then, the Coastal America Partners have presented Partnership, Spirit and Special Recognition Awards on an annual basis.
