River Projects:
The
Rivers, Trails, and Conservation Assistance Program, also
known as the Rivers & Trails Program or RTCA, is a community
resource of the National Park Service. Rivers & Trails
staff work with community groups and local and State governments
to conserve rivers, preserve open space, and develop trails
and greenways. The following is a list of the types of river
projects we assist in.

In
addition, RTCA assists park units and states with various
challenges under the Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, Federal Power
Act and on other river management issues; provides assistance
to NPS in further designation of rivers within parks; assists
with American Heritage Rivers initiative; leads (with Water
Resources Division, Ranger Activities, and Park Planning)
in strengthening a Service-wide network of rivers staff; continues
to participate in and improve coordination with EPA, USFWS,
FEMA, FERC, USFS, BLM, BuRec, NRCS, COE, and other Federal
water resources agencies; and through cooperative agreements
continues to build a rivers movement and empower partners.
