Coaching background

I coached one year at Clayton High School located in Clayton, Missouri. I also coached two years at Harris-Stowe State University located in St. Louis, Missouri. I also conducted volleyball camps for three years at Hayti High School located in Hayti, Missouri.

Philosophy as a coach

I believe firmly in a team effort and that there is “No I in Team: Together, Everyone Achieves More.” Work hard, play hard, and have fun while doing so.

Expectations from this year’s team

I expect this year’s team to play collectively as a group in order to win matches and ultimately a SIAC Championship. I want my team to not talk about being a good team, but to actually put forth the time and effort to be a great team.

How will you approach this season?

“I will approach this season with a positive outlook, open arms, and as an active resource to help my players develop and maximize their skills, fundamentals, and potential to the fullest. “

What returning players have impressed you?

“Mahogany Cross has shown a lot of leadership. She is like the mama of the group. She has a very positive spirit and she will definitely lead the team in the right direction. She has also been tremendous in helping me get acquainted.

Olivia Davis has the makings of being a great player if she realizes her potential. She is a very powerful outside hitter with tons of athletic ability. With maturity and growth, she can definitely be an All-Conference Player.

Tonisia Walters has a good attitude and a lot of potential. She is a versatile player that can play outside, middle, or right side. Her level of success will depend on how hard she works.”

What newcomers should we keep an eye on?

“Etienne Bouie is a very versatile player. She makes adjustments to get the job done when needed. She has a do it for the team attitude. She was recruited as an outside hitter, but she has the potential to be a good setter with a little expertise. As a setter, her height, ability to read the opponent, and hitting capabilities will be positive feature for the team.

Frances Davies is a libero with a hungry appetite. She is a scrappy and fundamentally sound defensive player that goes for everything. She is a perfectionist and tries persistently to get a touch on each pass. She is a great communicator and will be the vocal mouthpiece that this team needs.

Rakel Hankins is a right side hitter. She is what I consider an all around player. She is a great passer as well as hitter. She is a smart player and has no problem putting the ball down. Her athleticism is phenomenal. She will definitely be a great asset to this year’s team and she will have the spectators out of their seats.

Kendra Joseph is what a call a “volleyball player.” She is a middle hitter that is capable of playing defense as well. She is an intelligent player that knows when and where to place the ball. She will definitely be one of our go to players.

DeNae Shelton is a middle hitter who has progressed as the days go by. She has a sweet demeanor that will have her opponent fooled. She has a sweet face with a killer instinct. She has the ability to put the ball away. She has the makings of being a good middle hitter with time, growth, and development.

Nikki Douglas is a defensive specialist with an upbeat tempo. She is really quick and agile. She endeavors to get to each and every pass. She also has the ability to hit from the right side if needed.

Carleigh Steele is right side hitter. She has an uplifting personality. She has enough energy and endurance for the entire team. Her motivation will definitely keep the team boosted up.”
