Our main areas of expertise
Our main business is assisting national institutes, non-governmental institutions/organizations and the private sector to develop integrated crop management (ICM) for a number of crops including cotton, rice, wheat, tropical fruits (mango and citrus), temperate fruits (apple, peach, apricot, grapes etc), and vegetables.
On sugarcane the main focus now is on optimizing use of freshwater along with assisting and training the private sector for provision of biological control services to growers.
Another focus of CABI South Asia is to develop agricultural based rural livelihoods in disaster hit areas using farmer participatory technology development and dissemination methodologies in the crop and livestock sector. |
We also provide technical assistance in the adoption of good agricultural practices in a range of crops. This assists stakeholders in the value chain in order to meet ecological (IPM, ICM, organic), and/or Eurepgap/HACCP standards.
Our centre is equipped with international telecommunications facilities, well-maintained laboratories and a leading library for crop protection literature.
