Established in 1948 as the Europe Station of the Commonwealth Institute of Biological Control, CABI Europe - Switzerland has traditionally worked on the classical biological control of invasive insect pests and weeds of Eurasian origin, on behalf of the temperate areas of the world, particularly North America, Australia and New Zealand. 

In the last 15 years or so, the centre has diversified to apply its experience in biological control, insect-plant and insect-natural enemy interactions to applied ecological problems relevant to Switzerland and Europe.

 

We have over 50 full and part-time staff working from the CABI Office in Delémont, Switzerland.

Future plans

 

 CABI Europe-Switzerland aims to maintain its portfolio of projects for North America as well as its international development work. It also aims to increase its activities and collaboration with Swiss and European research.
