Making commodity crops like bananas, coffee and cocoa sustainable into the future.
CABI aims to help smallholder farmers make a sustainable living from growing and selling their crops. |
The impacts of our work to date include:
- Building of expertise and capacity in commodity producing countries through innovative participatory techniques
- New knowledge created on a range of pests and diseases
- Improvement of on-farm practices through farmers understanding alternative ecological methods and better ways of using pesticides
- Helping commodity producing regions to understand quarantine issues more fully and be able to respond to them
- Improved quality and crop protection to provide better returns to farmers and countries
- Improved communication on commodity-related issues through our books, manuals, videos and GRO Cocoa newsletter.
