IHS Division of Oral Health
Career Paths
The opportunity begins by choosing which employment path best fits your training, priorities and lifestyle: Federal employment, or working directly for a Tribe. The Federal path offers the option of serving as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service (PHS) or as a Civil Service employee for the Indian Health Service (IHS). Those who work directly for a Tribe have employment agreements as private contractors with the Tribe. To find out which path may be right for you, please click on the links or buttons above to see more information regarding eligibility, compensation, benefits and advancement/promotions.
