Cookin' the Market Partners:

Cookin' the Market is a program of the Pacific Coast Farmers' Market Association (PCFMA), a not-for-profit organization that operates over 40 Certified Farmers' Markets in the San Francisco Bay Area.

The Cookin' the Market program is made possible through the generous support of its sponsors: Kaiser Permanente and Brentwood Agricultural Land Trust.

Kaiser Permanente

The Cookin' the Market program was developed and piloted in partnership with Kaiser Permanente San Jose.

Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. is a lead sponsor of the program through its Community Benefits Grants program for Northern California.

The program is an integral part of the Thrive-Support Agriculture Program - a partnership between PCFMA and Kaiser Permanente that works to increase the access of consumers to fresh, nutritious, locally-produced fruits and vegetables and to support farming in the region that is economically and environmentally sustainable.

Through this partnership, PCFMA operates certified farmers' markets at 12 Kaiser Permanente facilities in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Kaiser Permanente and PCFMA have been partners since 2003, when the first farmers' market at a Kaiser Permanente hospital opened in Oakland.

Kaiser Permanente is America's leading integrated health plan. Founded in 1945, it is a not-for-profit, group practice program headquartered in Oakland, Ca. Kaiser Permanente serves more than 8.6 million members in nine states and the District of Columbia. Today it encompasses the not-for-profit Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc., Kaiser Foundation Hospitals and their subsidiaries, and the for-profit Permanente Medical Groups. Nationwide, Kaiser Permanente includes approximately 156,000 technical, administrative and clerical employees and caregivers, and more than 13,000 physicians representing all specialties.

Brentwood Agricultural Land Trust

Brentwood Agricultural Land Trust

We are fortunate to live in a place were local farmers provide our communities with fresh, healthy food. The Brentwood Agricultural Land Trust is proud to be working to ensure that future generations will continue to enjoy a local source of food. BALT works with local farmers on agricultural conservation easements that will keep our precious, prime farmland available for farming forever. And BALT builds connections between local farmers and our Bay Area neighbors that support local farmers, provide fresh, healthy food to the Bay Area and keep our food dollars in our communities. .
