MAFO National
Farmworker Conference
March 31, 2009
San Antonio, TX
MAFO announces
that Jim Hightower will be the Key Note Speaker at the 20th MAFO
National Farmworker Conference, MAFO Awards Banquet/GALA in San
Antonio, Texas on the evening of March 31, 2009. Mr. Hightower
was MAFOs Key Note Speaker at our first Conference in Austin,
Texas, in 1989. It was important for us to go back to our roots,
as we celebrate our 20th Conference Anniversary, and have Mr. Hightower
join us and see how far we progress, said Mr. Lupe Martinez,
Chairman of MAFO.
Come and join
us as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the MAFO National Farmworker
Conference and as we listen to Mr. Hightower speak to the impact
of national policies on rural communities; i.e. farmworkers, immigrants,
Latino businesses and now Latino farmers and ranchers, many who
are former farmworkers and the impact of the global economic and
policies on the rural business climate and workers.
