System Requirements

Can record sound in the lab and in the field

Ishmael captures sound on disk in real time
you set the sampling rate; up to 300 kHz
sound is stored on disk as a series of sound files
sound file names can include a time stamp

Sampling schemes:

don't have to record continuously
can record on a pre-set schedule, such as 10 minutes every two hours, or 3 hours every day
