The mission of EPA's libraries is to improve access to information for decision making and environmental awareness.

The EPA National Library Network is composed of libraries and repositories located in the Agency's Headquarters, Regional and Field Offices, Research Centers, and specialized laboratories, as well as web-based access to electronic collections. The combined network collection contains a wide range of general information on:

Several of the libraries maintain collections focused on special topics to support specific Regional or Program Office Projects. The Library Network provides access to its collections through the Online Library System (OLS), a database catalog of the library collections. The OLS offers author, title, and keyword access to documents and makes it possible to retrieve relevant information regardless of its physical location.

EPA is leveraging the use of information technology to provide enhanced Agency library services to its employees and the public. EPA is committed to supporting an effective physical and virtual library network that provides timely information access and library services. More information is available on the EPA National Library Network Home, Library Network News, and Future Direction of the EPA Library Network pages.
