Applicant Information

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is a private, nonprofit, tax-exempt organization that provides funding on a competitive basis for projects that sustain, restore and enhance the Nation’s fish, wildlife, plants and their habitats.

General Information

Potential applicants are encouraged to review the Applicant FAQs in the menu to the left prior to submitting an application. This section provides valuable information related to the Foundation's application process, application content, and what to expect if an award is made.

Where to Apply

Federal, state, and local governments, educational institutions, and nonprofit organizations are welcome to apply for matching grants twice annually, through the Keystone Initiative Grant program. Before submitting an application, please carefully review the guidelines and conservation goals for the applicable Keystone Initiative.

Additional opportunities exist through the Foundation’s Special Grants Programs. The scope, guidelines, and timelines vary by program. Prospective applicants should review the list of Special Grant Programs to determine which may be appropriate for their needs.

Foundation Launches New Grant Application System

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of Easygrants, a new grant application system.  Easygrants is designed to fit the Foundation’s business processes and offers a user-friendly interface for applicants and recipients in all aspects of proposal submission and grants management.  This transition will begin with the launch of the pre-proposal module on March 3, 2008 for ten Foundation Funding Opportunities listed below.  Foundation staff will work closely with funding partners, recipients, and potential applicants over the coming year to ensure a smooth transition to an electronic grant submission and management system for all Foundation programs.

Easygrants Highlights

Allows returning applicants secure access to update and reuse prior proposals and their contact profile information.

Applicants can access their pre-proposals and full proposals an unlimited number of times, saving each time, before final submission.

Applicants can download a PDF version of their proposals for their own records.

Easygrants Resources

Registration, Pre-proposal Orientation, and Full Proposal Orientation

If you have problems viewing the video of the webinar you will need to download & install the video codec from GoToMeeting.

Proposal Information

  • Pre-proposal Summary – A summary of what fields and questions applicants can expect in new Easygrants pre-proposal.  This is a resource for applicants, not a template to be completed and submitted to the Foundation.  All pre-proposal applications must be submitted electronically in the live Easygrants system.
