Fruit
Crops
Producing juicy yields and
profits
Fruit research at Clemson is helping
growers produce bigger yields, tastier produce and healthier profits.
One scientist is looking for genetic
improvements to protect peach trees from oak
root rot, a pervasive disease that is killing fruit trees around
the world. (pdf 919 KB)
Studies include irrigation return-on-investment,
nematode resistance, reflective film to enhance fruit color, genomic
mapping, peach tree short life, and threats to crop production from
viruses and fungi.
Research information is shared with
growers around the state through the Clemson Extension Service,
as well as with other university research and Extension personnel
in the Southeast.
