B56, Power and Nonpowered Industrial Trucks As of September 1, 2005, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) transferred maintenance of all the B56 Safety Standards to a new entity, the Industrial Truck Standards Developing Foundation (ITSDF). ITSDF, of Washington DC, was established in December 2004 by the Industrial Truck Association (ITA), of Washington DC. ITSDF and ASME signed a management transfer agreement on May 16, 2005. All current members of the ASME B56 Committees were invited to continue serving on those committees after they became ITSDF committees. ITA hopes to have all the B56 documents posted electronically on its website when the website becomes available.
